Sun Chemical Industrial Accident Ends in Death

Last Friday, November 4th, saw the death of a Sun Chemical employee after an on-site
industrial accident in Egelston Township, Michigan.
According to S. Hendryx, operations manager at the Sun Chemical plant, the accident occurred around 5 p.m. The employee, who worked in an area of the plant that makes red and yellow pigments for the printing industry was unexpectedly struck by a bag that fell from one of the site's elevated platforms.
Injury to the victim was immediate and fellow Sun Chemical employees attempted to perform CPR until local firefighters arrived at the scene. The injured employee was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but he never regained consciousness after the blow, and the company was notified on Monday morning of the employee's death.
Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration Safety will be sending a representative to further investigate the circumstances of the accident.
