OSHA Launches Accident Awareness Campaign

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has recently launched a campaign to raise awareness about "Struck-By" accidents. These types of injuries typically occur in industrial environments when workers are struck by forklifts, cranes and yard trucks, among other types of moving industrial equipment. During the past four years, 14 percent of all workplace fatalities were caused by these types of factors. The OSHA states that "one accident is too many" which is why the presence of any "struck-by" accident needs to be remediated as much as possible. To do so, they have developed instructional materials to inform workers of accident statistics as well as what types of measures can be taken to avoid these types of accidents. Some accident prevention measures may seem obvious, like paying attention and avoiding distractions while operating heavy machinery. These things are actually very easy to forget when you participate in these kinds of operations on a daily basis.
