Around noon on March 12th a gas plant fire was reported in Corpus Christi, Texas. The flash fire accident happened at Enterprise Products Partners LP, as natural gas processing plant. So far reports show that four contract workers have been injured in the fire, suffering severe burns.
Enterprise Products Partners LP Speaks Out
Rick Rainey, the spokesman for the natural gas company, talked with the media about the accident. He reported that the accident took place in the early afternoon at Enterprise Products Shoup plant in Corpus Christi.
According to Rainey, the accident happened when several workers attempted to change a component designed to filter the gas stream. Though the exact cause is still unknown, investigations have begun to uncover more details. No plant operations were interrupted in the fire.
Workers in Corpus Christi Hospital
The four workers involved in the gas plant fire were quickly evacuated to receive medical attention. Two of the workers were taken to a Corpus Christi hospital, while the other two were flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center to be treated for burn injuries. The severity of their injuries is still unknown and no further reports have been made on their status.
The contract workers were employed by Strike, an energy services company. The company did not immediately return messages left with them.
