On Monday afternoon, an explosion occurred at a factory in Rochester, New
York. Authorities initially responded to reports of an individual on fire
at Arconic Fastening Systems. When they arrived, they found two men with
critical burn injuries all over their bodies. Both men were taken Strong
Memorial Hospital and no further details about their condition have been released.
Upon investigation, the Rochester Fire Department revealed that a leaking
hydraulic press was the source of the explosion. The leak came into contact
with an ignition source, creating a fireball with a 30-foot diameter that
enveloped both men.
Factory Equipment Must Be Maintained for Safety
Factories and plants are inherently dangerous places to work. As a result,
it is the responsibility of employers to protect the well-being of their
employees by maintaining safety standards—this includes the maintenance
of heavy machinery. Too often, companies fail to maintain their equipment
and, when things go wrong, employees are often the ones who pay the consequences.
Rochester factory accident lawyers hope for a full recovery for the two men who were burned as a result of
this faulty equipment.
