Houston Refinery Accident Injures Two Contractors

Posted By Arnold & Itkin || 6-Jan-2019

On Saturday afternoon, a catastrophic accident occurred at LyondellBasell Houston Refinery in southeast Houston. The accident left one contractor impaled by a pipe; he was later airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Another contractor suffered injuries, as well, although there is no further information available about what occurred and how severely he was injured.

According to a representative of LyondellBasell, the two contractors had been working on a pipeline close at the time of the accident. No other individual is believed to have been injured in the accident.

This is not the first serious accident to occur at this LyondellBasell Houston Refinery. For example, in 2008, a 30-story-tall crane collapsed at the refinery, severely injuring seven and killing four others.

Currently, the cause of yesterday's accident is unknown. No other information has been released.
