Attorney Cory Itkin
As one of the country's most dedicated trial attorneys, Cory Itkin
has been proud to put his experience to work in representing clients in
high-stakes personal injury cases that range from plant explosions to
serious trucking accidents. Throughout his career, he has been able to
recover verdicts and settlements for his clients in more than two dozen
states, and he has also been involved in some of the country's most
high-profile litigation; for example, he helped represent clients injured
in the BP Deepwater Horizon explosion.
His career has proven that he can achieve the most in cases where the challenges
were the greatest. For example, on 5 separate occasions, Cory has been
able to win a jury verdict worth more than $1 million when the defendant
had made absolutely no offer to settle the case prior to trial. He has
also been able to recover 7 and 8 figure settlements on the night before
a case was set to go to trial.
Based in Houston, Cory is proud to represent clients throughout the nation,
and he has been successful in winning cases from coast to coast. In more
than 50 cases, he has been able to recover more than $1 million on behalf
of his clients. He attributes this to his approach of always preparing
cases as if they're going to trial.
Prior to his legal practice, Cory graduated from the University of Texas
and earned his law degree from the University of Houston, where he graduated
cum laude. During his time at law school, he received several distinctions,
such as being inducted into the Order of the Barons. Since then, he has
been proud to put his talents to work by helping represent the seriously
injured; this has led to him being named as one of the "Top 100 Trial
Lawyers" in the state of Texas by the American Trial Lawyers Association.
He has also been selected for inclusion in the
Super Lawyers® Rising Stars℠ list (2010-2018), selected for the Up-and-Coming 100 list, and selected
for The Best Lawyers in America® for Personal Injury Litigation -
Plaintiffs and Admiralty and Maritime Law.

$76.6 Million Awarded to Boy Who Grew Female Breasts from Risperdal
Arnold & Itkin obtained the largest single verdict in a Risperdal-Gynecomastia case—$76.6 million. We are honored to have helped our client recover this amount!
A young boy who had developed female breasts as a result of taking Risperdal—a
drug manufactured by Johnson & Johnson and Janssen Pharmaceuticals—was
awarded a $76.6 million jury verdict. Represented by Attorneys Jason Itkin
and Kyle Findley of Arnold & Itkin, with help from Santana McMurrey
and Cory Itkin, the client was able to successfully hold Johnson &
Johnson and Janssen Pharmaceuticals accountable for their failure to disclose
the drug’s harmful side effects.
Once the boy’s family sued Johnson & Johnson for his symptoms
related to Risperdal—an anti-psychotic medication—Johnson
& Johnson maintained that the boy remained on the drug after knowing
about the side effects, that this drug was the only one that worked, and
that the drug did not have any ties to gynecomastia in young males. Through
cross-examination, evidence that became known as “Tab 4,”
showed that there was scientific data evidencing a link between Risperdal
and gynecomastia. Furthermore, it was evidenced that Johnson & Johnson
kept this information secret from scientific published studies, the FDA,
At the end of the 11-day trial, the jury awarded Arnold & Itkin’s
client $76.6 million after unanimously finding Johnson & Johnson and
Janssen Pharmaceuticals to be guilty of failing to warn consumers against
the dangerous side effects of the drug. This verdict is the largest single
verdict in a Risperdal-Gynecomastia case.

cargo, he suffered a massive stroke. As a result, the heavy cargo he was

to blame his injuries on being overweight and unloading the cargo improperly,
but Cory cut through their arguments quickly. The defendants were finally

A $9,550,000 settlement was awarded to a client of Arnold & Itkin LLP. The crane accident that took the client’s leg was proven to be entirely the defendants fault.
A $9.55 million settlement was secured for an injured longshoreman by Jason
Itkin, Cory Itkin, and Bradford Hendrickson. This attorney team proved
that their client was guiltless in an accident that caused the amputation
of one of his legs. While on the job, the longshoreman became the sole
casualty of an industrial crane accident. The defendant blamed the worker
for being responsible for his own injuries, but Arnold & Itkin attorneys
knew otherwise. They took on the case and showed that their client acted
responsibly and was injured for no fault of his own. Once the defendant
saw the evidence collected by Arnold & Itkin, they decided to settle
the claim out of court. Here is the list of requests that the defendant
fulfilled through the settlement: $9.55 million awarded to client; an
official apology given to the longshoreman for his injuries; $500,000
paid for the client’s medical bills; and a safety award created

who had been catastrophically injured when an explosion occurred at an
oil refinery. The accident caused hot steam and coking material to cover
our clients after throwing them into a handrail. Our clients suffered

Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Jason Itkin, Cory Itkin, and Ben Bireley achieved
a settlement for a family who lost a loved one in a tragic accident offshore.
Our clients were wrestling with the loss of their loved one—who
died due to negligence—when the defendant attempted to force them
to accept an extremely low settlement offer. Using tactics that involved
outdated and arcane maritime laws, the defendant hoped to get away with
a resolution for pennies on the dollar. Instead, our attorneys fought
back and obtained a settlement that was many times larger than the defendant’s
original offer. We’re proud to have secured our client’s future
stability, allowing them to move forward in peace.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $2,978,833.87.

the widow and family of an offshore worker. Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Jason
Itkin, Cory Itkin, and Ben Bireley represented the family of a man who
was killed in an incident offshore. When they contacted Arnold & Itkin,
they had just done an exhaustive search for every lawyer who was able
to represent their case. Upon getting the call, Kurt Arnold immediately
flew out to speak with them in person. Afterward, we quickly filed their
case to put pressure on the defendant, who was trying to get out of paying
a large settlement through outdated maritime laws. Thanks to our relentless
work, the defendant eventually offered our client a multimillion dollar
settlement—one that will ensure their lifelong financial security
while they grieve in peace.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $2,877,269.75.
$6.1 Million Settlement Negotiated for Wrongful Death of Offshore Worker
Arnold & Itkin obtained a multimillion-dollar settlement for our client despite an initial offer that was less than a tenth of the final result.
Our attorneys at Arnold & Itkin secured a $6.1 million settlement for
a woman whose husband died at sea. Shortly after his death, our client
was being relentlessly called and contacted by the defendants, government
officials, and other parties who weren’t looking out for her interests.
The defendants in particular offered a low-ball settlement that was nowhere
near what she deserved. The process wasn’t allowing her to grieve
or seek real counsel, so she reached out to Arnold & Itkin. Kurt Arnold
immediately flew out to meet with her in person and answer her questions.
We were honored to take on the case for her, and we immediately began
fighting back against the defendants’ tactics. As a result, our
team eventually negotiated a settlement that was 12 times the size of
the original offer. We are proud to have gotten justice for our client
and helped her secure her future in the face of tragedy.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $2,240,209.48.
$2.95 Million Settlement Reached for Man Hurt on the Job
Our firm filed a case in Harris County, TX on behalf of a man who suffered back injuries serious enough to warrant two surgeries for treatment. We ultimately recovered $2,950,000 on his behalf.
Attorneys Ryan MacLeod, Cory Itkin, and Jason Itkin represented a Rome,
Georgia seaman who was injured while aboard a pipe-laying vessel docked
in Mississippi. At the time of the injury, he had been attempting to open
a drawer of a work cabinet. Because the drawer lacked a drawer stop, it
began to fall; our client injured his back in an attempt to catch it.
Those injuries ultimately required our client to undergo two surgeries.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $1,038,000.00.
$2.35 Million Settlement Reached for Injured Deckhand
Our legal team reached a favorable settlement of $2,350,000 for a woman injured while working as a deckhand. She suffered a back injury when the tugboat that she was on collided with another vessel.
Attorneys Jason Itkin, Cory Itkin, and Noah Wexler worked together to recover
$2,350,000 on behalf of a woman working as a deckhand who suffered a back
injury severe enough to require surgery after her tugboat hit another
vessel. In the aftermath of the collision, both vessel owners denied liability,
choosing to instead blame the other vessel. They also attempted to minimize
our client’s injuries—arguing her claim was not credible,
her medical bills were overstated, and that she was indeed able to return
to work. Utilizing the Limitation of Liability Act, they also attempted
to cap their damages. This effort was blocked when Cory Itkin won in federal
court trial. After, we reached a favorable settlement just before the
second trial for damages was to begin in state court.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $1,211,098.26.
$2 Million Settlement Negotiated for Worker Injured on Jack-Up Rig
Arnold & Itkin LLP secured a multimillion-dollar settlement for a Texas jack-up rig worker who was injured in an evacuation stampede during a construction project in Singapore.
Attorney Cory Itkin obtained $2 million in a settlement on behalf of a
Porter, Texas man who was injured on a jack-up rig in Singapore. Our client
was part of a construction project with multiple companies when a technical
error caused the jack-up rig to tilt over. Everyone attempted to evacuate
at the same time, crushing our client in a stampede that left him with
serious back injuries. His injuries eventually required surgery, but the
defendants on the case accused him of having minor injuries. They also
denied responsibility for the event, blaming it on companies who were
outside the U.S. and could not be brought to court. Our firm proved both
those allegations false, forcing the defendant to settle with our client
fairly and honestly. The case was filed in Harris County, Texas.
Injured Refinery Worker Recovers $1.72 Million Verdict
Arnold & Itkin attorneys stood by the side of an injured refinery worker in a case that spanned four years – eventually recovering $1.72 million on his behalf.
For four years, Attorney Cory Itkin stood by an injured refinery worker,
Ernesto Tamez and his wife as they sought justice. Mr. Tamez had been
employed in Texas City, Texas at a BP refinery when a crane operator hit
him with a heavy oil burner, trapping him between the machine and a guard
rail. The plaintiff sustained serious injuries to his back, neck and shoulder.
A case was filed against Maxim Crane Workers who argued that not only
was the accident caused by the plaintiff, but that the injuries were exaggerated
– stating that many of them could be attributed to "wear and
tear" from age. Neither the plaintiff nor his wife spoke English,
but the firm was not deterred and ensured a translator was present to
help them testify. The trial lasted a week in Galveston, TX before the
Honorable David E. Garner. The jury came back stating that the employer
was 100% responsible; the plaintiff received $1.72 million.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $736,778.00.
$1,500,000 Jury Verdict Recovered in Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Arnold & Itkin obtained $1.5 million for a family who lost a loved one due to dangerous working conditions at a UPS warehouse.
Cory Itkin and Ryan MacLeod of Arnold & Itkin argued and won a case
in Harris County that found UPS had acted with gross negligence, not just
ordinary negligence, in creating dangerous working conditions that led
to the death of a young man who worked in one of their warehouses. The
UPS worker suffered a cardiac arrhythmia while working in a warehouse
that wasn’t air-conditioned during the heat of summer. UPS argued
that the young man was already known to have a serious heart condition
since birth, and that the man had worked there for the past six years
and knew the working conditions, which were typical for UPS warehouses.
Before trial, they offered the bereaved family no more than $150,000.
Arnold & Itkin was able to obtain the unanimous verdict needed to
deem that UPS was responsible for dangerous working conditions due to
their gross negligence, securing $1.5 million in compensation for the
surviving family members.

Attorneys Cory Itkin and Ryan MacLeod recovered $1,500,000 on behalf of
a dock operator who sustained injuries that required neck surgery after
a barge collided with a dock. The tugboat company claimed there was minimal
impact from the collision, our client worked for nearly a year after the
crash, and had been in a vehicle accident the day prior. Despite these
defenses, we reached a favorable settlement to help him move on.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $653,983.84.
$1.2 Million Recovered for Victim of Toxic Inhalation
After inhaling toxic fumes on a tugboat, our client suffered lung injuries. Our firm took on the case, winning in federal court trial and then reaching a favorable settlement just before the second trial in state court.
The legal team of Jason Itkin, Cory Itkin, and Noah Wexler helped a Beeville,
Texas deckhand who inhaled toxic fumes on a tugboat and suffered lung
injuries as a result. According to the defendants, the barge connected
to the tugboat did not have toxic materials present, which would have
made our client’s injuries impossible. They also pursue a case in
federal court involving the Limitation of Liability Act in an attempt
to cap their damages. Despite these efforts, Cory Itkin first won the
case in federal court (Houston, TX) and then reached a favorable settlement
just before a second trial on damages was to be held in state court (Galveston
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $539,647.96.
